About the project
2020, Barcelona
The pandemic has been generating 8,4 million tons of single-use plastic. Actually, in the supermarkets, we can find a lot of hair and skin products made of single-use plastic. These plastics end up in the ocean and take more than 150 years to decompose.
This project is about designing the packaging (container) that the users can refill as many times as they want. With the new technologies, we can improve the user experience. So for this project, it has been designed a display for a dispenser and an app where the user can have access to new products, nearest refill points, discounts, etc.
The objective of this project is to make visible that with small changes, it is possible to contribute to the improvement of the health of our planet and also improve the user experience and the personalized experience of the products, taking advantage of the new technologies with which we are increasingly familiar.

About the dispenser
The project is based on NFC technology (Near Field Communication). There are three elements in this project connected by this technology: the user’s smartphone, the container and the dispenser.
The user uses the app to search for new products, check the status of the products in the container and find the nearest point to refill.
Once the user needs to fill their container with a new product, they simply have to approach the container closer to the dispenser screen, once they have recognized their container thanks to NFC, it will be connected, and they will be able to fill it.
In this way, the data is saved in the user’s account.
With the interconnection of the devices, it improves the user experience, but the main purpose is to reduce environmental impact.
